Hey reader,
Long time no see. If you’re struggling to recall who the hell I am, don’t worry — I’d also have trouble remembering a guy who hasn’t published a damn word in 18 months. So, a quick reminder: most likely, you subscribed to this Substack after reading my posts on learning, taking meeting notes, shortcuts, and/or choosing what to work on (back from 2019!), which happened to get somewhat popular through Naval and Hacker News.
Where have I been? Mostly sick with long covid, which destroyed my cognitive function for a good 12 months or so. (I am fine now.) Besides that, stuck in the land of self-doubt, wondering if I had anything worthwhile to say and why write in the first place. (That too is gone.)
The news is that I’m back to writing. I’ve already published a description of a weirdly effective thinking technique I invented in 2022 and my reflections on Franklin’s autobiography, and I’m planning to release two more posts this week. I plan to keep this weekly cadence. So, if you liked my writing, check these things out. I hope you’ll find them helpful.
There’s a lot more cool stuff going on: a little business that made me $20k in 30h of work, cognitive science studies, philosophy-epistemology-history-writing-systems thinking deep dives, DALLE-2 experiments, contract work for cool YC companies, and the ilk — but that’d be too much for this already inexcusably long email. I will be tweeting about it and, of course, writing on my new site. If you want to stay in touch, follow along.
Finally, I wanted to reveal the most dramatic change that’s happened to me in these long two years. I hope you still recognize me, lol! (I still wonder how YC gave money to the chap on left.)
Have a joyful week,
Vasili
